The Benevolent Society

Carers are people who look after someone who requires help with their day-to-day living needs. Do you care or provide support to someone with disability, a mental health condition or a life limiting health condition? Or perhaps you are caring for someone who is frail due to age? The Carer Gateway is a national program to assist carers with supports, services and information. Carers can register with the Carer Gateway by calling 1800 422 737. Once a carer is registered, a wellbeing assessment is completed to identify their needs, set goals and assist them with supports and link them to other services (where appropriate). Supports available through the Carer Gateway may include emergency respite, carer directed support package, counselling, peer support, facilitated coaching and young carer support (carers 25 years and under). Carers can also access on-line support and services through the website. Visit carergateway.gov.au
